Reinvent Yourself
Reinvent Yourself
Makeovers are popular these days – reality shows, home decorating shows, weight loss shows, and its all neatly wrapped up in about 60 minutes. But that’s not how it happened for me, and I’ll guess for most of the people you know. For the rest of us it starts out walking up just a little heavier, or a little more in debt, or a little lonelier than you were the day before. Suddenly, you find you’ve dug a little hole for yourself that isn’t so easy to bounce out of.
I know that I didn’t even see how far off my path I had gotten until I had to go to my 20th class reunion. Facing the homecoming queen and the class president made me take a hard look at myself. And it wasn’t pretty. I was about 40 pounds overweight, I was living larger than life financially, too. Fat, tired and poor. Not good. I needed to reinvent myself big time!
Of course, I’d tried diet programs, new exercise goals, financial vigilance. I loaded up on some of the books out there – since there are so many on money and finance, but I think I just wasted more money with that?!? The books were too much to read and I felt like I was just reading and not taking action. I needed to turn this around – FAST. And unlike on TV, I couldn’t afford a personal trainer, a personal chef, a stylist — and I didn’t have a chance at a million bucks if I was the last woman standing.
In life, you have to find another way to reinvent yourself – by yourself. So how to reinvent yourself? Madonna reinvents herself every 5 years or so, but could I?
Then I found a simple step by step solution that was realistic and gave me results. Okay, it wasn’t easy at first, but it wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be – and I reinvented my life in a way I could manage. In a way that other people could see, too.
