Power of positive thinking

Power of positive thinking

Somedays, when I wake up I only feel the power of positive snoozing. Power of positive thinking? No. Snoozing only.

Lying flat in bed, with my little tiger cat perched on my chest sharpening claws into my best duvet cover. I’m thinking a lot of thoughts…none too positive. Especially about the cat. Is there really any power in positive thinking? Does my cat care what goes through my head? Does the shower care? Does the bus driver care? Does anyone?

Some days seem beyond the power of positive thinking. There were bad days and there were good days. And there was nothing to do when you were dealt a bad day. At least that’s what I used to think. A friend started talking to me about the power of positive thinking and how it could really change my life. At first, I wanted to believe – and I could see how it worked in his own life, but I figured he was just one of those lucky guys. How could positive thinking make a meaningful difference? One day he made a bet with me, “Five days without a negative thought or complaint…I dare you. Instead, think positive instead. After five days, come back to me. If you don’t feel better, I’ll give you $100.” Now, I thought this would be the easiest $100 I’d ever make, but I’m not one to back down from a wager so I figured I’d give it a try. And he gave me a book.
