Manifesting Your Way Out of Limiting Beliefs
I remember the first time I even realized the power of belief - and the blocks of limiting beliefs. I was talking to a friend about how it would be so wonderful to be able to travel for a few months - have adventures, learn a new language, see a new part of the world! I imagined sitting on a beach in a hammock, relaxing to the sound of ocean waves softly breaking against the white sand beach. Relaxed and wonderful…until snapping back to the "reality" that I had bills to pay, a limitted savings account, a 9 - 5 job, and responsibilities. I couldn’t take off to some remote island for 3 months! What was I thinking? Jolted from my daydream, I was even a little embarrassed and explained to my friend that "it’s only a dream, not something I could actually do…I needed to get real!"
But she said something that surprised me. She said, "why not? what’s not real about your idea? only your limiting beliefs are keeping you from it." Limiting beliefs are those sets of rules that we live our lives by…but who says those are "the rules"? That’s why some beliefs we take for granted as "fact" are limiting our experience, our choices and our lives. When we change our limiting beliefs and we open up a new world of possibilities. My limiting beliefs were "Its too expensive to travel — living beachside is for wealthy rockstars, not me." "I could never get the time off work", "who would take care of my dog?" "I’d never have enough money".
Slowly, by examining each statement, I could see I needed to change my beliefs so that they weren’t stopping me. Or at least so I could see that I have more freedom and choices than I allowed myself. And, I am proud to tell you that I did go to Thailand and live on a beach for three months! After breaking down my limiting beliefs, and creating a new outlook for myself, I took a leave of absence from my job, saved up a small amount of money and sub-let my apartment. I even found a neighbor who wanted to adopt my dog (as a temporary arrangement).
In the end, it was only my limiting beliefs that held me back! I was the only person blocking me from living my dreams. Clearing limiting beliefs allowed me to ask more questions, make bigger plans and see my daydreams become reality. I’m not special - these techniques for removing limiting beliefs are available for you and work universally. Maybe you’ve tried "postitive thinking" but if the limiting beliefs are still underlying your thinking things aren’t going to change. I found a way that works in this book, and you will too.
