Finding Joy

Finding Joy

Where, oh where, can I find joy? Joy is one of those emotions that I only heard about around Christmastime…in those joyous carols about peace and happiness. Ironically, at the same time, we’re all overcharging our credit cards, stifling road rage in the mall parking lot and at the airport, and pasting on a smile while enduring another forced gift exchange with our “Secret Santa” at the office.

Is joy in the simple things? Is there joy in my life? And, where is my joy? Not only at Christmas but during the rest of the year, too? I wanted to find the joy in today, I wanted to find the joy in life. Finding joy seems like something I’m entitled to as much as the next guy, right? Even the Declaration of Independence promised “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness”! Well, I’ll tell you. I looked for joy and it’s a slippery thing to find.

I tried taking bubble baths and staring at clouds and eating ice cream sundaes – and you know what? Nada. No joy. I heard inspirational stories on finding your true joy – how people bump and trip and fall right into their joy. But I was steady on my feet and tended to maintain a clear and sober outlook. Life should be more carefree. Life should be fulfilling. Life should be filled with joy.

That’s why I liked this book – it let me find my own road. It helped me find my own (rather nontraditional) joyful happenings and events in my life…at a pace that worked for me and in a way I could get it. You’re looking for something you deserve, and if you haven’t found something that works to unlock the joy and helps manifest your desires, check out the book.
